Nature Delights #2 (to 2006 Dec 31)
white wild turkeys
you got pretty ones and yes they do the clean up on the highways. I seen thier dinner yikes......
I don't forget it when I'm going to be near where the deer are!!
LOL, Terlee... I see my best photo ops when I don't have my camera! Murphy's Law?? Maybe...
Beautiful and interesting Nature Delights, Chad!!! Thank you!!!
Yup, Debba... Chad's right - the Turkey Vulture is a very impressive bird in flight, and they do serve a good purpose for sure. And yes, they do have a face only a mother could love.
Thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful pictures. Even tho we had really warm temps (teens for 2 days) we still didn't have a lot of feathered friends. Chickadees were visiting and I heard a bluejay, but couldn't get to the window before he flew away. Now it's back to cold, so I guess we won't be seeing any increase in the bird population.
lovely photos guys - some of those Ducks are gorgeous !
Ring Neck waiting for the right of way to cross the road.
Red Breasted Nuthatch
Willow
great shots, Roulette!
Awesome photos, Chad... Boy, those Ring-necked Pheasants are a beautiful bird!!! AND of course the RB Nuthatch is just as cute as ever!!
was pleased with both.
the RNP shot, I wasn't sure would come out. I was creeping along, looking for stuff and all of a sudden, noticed 2 males on the side as I turned right. I was right in the intersection when I shot that pic. its buddy just flew across the road before I could get a good pic.
I had the window down and zoomed in nicely.
You did a great job, Chad... you have a right to be pleased!! So happy the Ring-necked Pheasant co-operated for you... too bad you couldn't get the other guy in the same photo, too!
Fog can be pretty (if you're not driving in it... especially when it starts getting thick and soupy!)
Yesterday afternoon, I was driving in fog (sometimes thick and soupy) for over an hour.
You couldn't see too far off the highway here (I actually pulled off onto an approach... almost found myself stuck when I went to leave! Good thing my little Honda CR-V kicked its 4X4 into gear!)

It didn't take long for cars to disappear into the fog ahead:

I took this through the windshield (while I was still parked!):

...and speaking of fog, we had fog overnight and woke up to it this morning...
By afternoon, the trees around here were wearing a nice coat of hoar frost. This is looking through our living room window, down the street:

....and this is looking out into our backyard and beyond:
